After Nearly 30 Years In Business¸ Fire Ruins Specialty Shoe Shop

A decades-old business in downtown Stuart may be a total loss after a fire ripped through the store around 5 p.m. Wednesday. is a specialty shoe shop that has been along near 1 for nearly 30 years. Stuart police were the first on scene¸ evacuating customers and nearby businesses. The gas pumps at the nearby 7-Eleven were also turned off. fire crews spent nearly three hours putting out the flames. By late Wednesday night¸ crews were still spraying water on potential hot spots and cleaning up the scene.

Construction Worker Buried In Trench Collapse Dies

A man who was buried when a trench collapsed in Minnetonka has died. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner says 48-year-old Jimmy Scott Klous of Onamia died at 11:16 a.m. Monday at Hennepin County Medical Center. The incident was reported about 10 a.m. Monday at 1900 Oakland Road in Minnetonka. First responders say they arrived to find one man completely covered in dirt¸ and the other man was buried up to his waist.
Investigators say the two men were prepping the area for water utility work as part of a Minnetonka street reconstruction plan.
According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner¸ the cause of death was the result of blunt force injuries to the chest.
The Minnetonka Police Department and are continuing to investigate.
